Masdevallia Santa Barbara

Masdevallia Santa Barbara

A compact and eye-catching hybrid between Masd. Copperwing and Masd. ionocharis, combining the warm, saturated tones of one parent with the refined floral structure of the other. The flowers feature tightly fused sepals forming a triangular, hooded shape with a prominent upward tail and two shorter lateral tails, revealing a contrasting darker interior and a delicate lip.

  • Light: Low to moderate light; 70–80% shade cloth. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); cool grower. Cool nights are essential for healthy growth and blooming — avoid prolonged temperatures above 75°F (24°C).
  • Humidity: 70–90%. High humidity is key; always pair with good air movement to prevent fungal rot.
  • Watering: Keep roots evenly moist at all times. Water more frequently in warm months, slightly less in winter. Never allow to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best grown in fine bark or sphagnum moss in small net or plastic pots. Ideal for cool-growing or climate-controlled setups. Offered by Ecuagenera, Ecuador, as a well-established bare-root plant.
