Masdevallia Don Cuni

Masdevallia Don Cuni

This striking hybrid between Masd. Analee Boyett and Masd. veitchiana produces vibrant flowers with excellent form and reliable blooming throughout the year. The compact growth habit and vigorous nature make this an outstanding choice for collectors.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50-70% shade cloth protection. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch leaves and reduce flowering.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 59-72°F (15-22°C), nighttime 50-59°F (10-15°C). Maintain a 10-15°F day-night differential to encourage continuous blooming.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with excellent air circulation. Use humidity trays, humidifiers, or terrarium environments to maintain moisture while preventing fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep media consistently moist but never waterlogged. Mounted plants need daily misting, potted specimens 3-4 times weekly. Reduce slightly in winter without allowing complete drying.

Additional Notes

Named in honor of a notable orchid enthusiast. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, though adapts well to small pots with fine bark mix or sphagnum moss.
